A Message from Margo McKnight, President & CEO of Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society
On behalf of the entire Palm Beach Zoo, we are truly touched by the outpouring of concern and support from this wonderful community. Times like these that bring out the very best of the human race. Until we open again, I want you to know your Zoo has not stopped moving our mission of saving wildlife in wild places
by both inspiring and implementing actions.
As always, our expert animal staff provide the very best in health care, nutrition, as well as opportunities to learn, explore and interact with staff and each other. You may not have thought about how important YOU are for our animals, but it is true for many, not only does your visit support your Zoo but you are also the animals' entertainment! We can’t replace their days filled with visitors, so we are doing our best by increasing staff interactions with the animals. We are working on how to share this with you virtually. If you are curious, follow us on facebook and Instagram (@palmbeachzoo) to make sure you don’t miss seeing the Zoo from an entirely new perspective. We have some plans ‘up our sleeves’ but we are not even sure what will happen!
Our field conservation efforts to save coral, panthers and kites continue to move forward, but we are following all directives to insure the health and safety of our human community. Our new plan is shifting from field work to getting the stories to wider audience so that when we get back to the work, more people can become involved.
If you are reading this, you are part of our supportive community, and we are thinking about you too. The science is clear how important nature and animals are to our very own health and welfare. Although we don’t know when we will open again, we promise to be here for you to de-stress, relax, have fun and support the wild world we all depend upon. Until then, we will provide the needed dose of nature, - we call "Vitamin Z" to you virtually. Until we see you again be safe!
