Know Before You Go

You must wear a mask in Palm Beach County (EO-12) when social distancing is not possible.

Do I have to wear a mask if I have received the COVID-19 vaccine? YES, until mask mandates are lifted, you will need to wear a mask when you can't social distance. Many of our animals are susceptible to the virus, and keeping them safe is all our responsibility.

For the safety of all visitors, masks are required in the following areas:
  • Fountain Plaza Splash Pad
    • Masks are required for spectators around the splash pad. If you are sitting on the benches, standing and monitoring your family, or in line for concessions you must wear a mask, as social distancing is difficult in this area of the Zoo. Anyone actively taking part in water play does not have to wear a mask.
  • Tiger River Habitat
    • Mask are required for all ages when near the Tiger River habitat. Tigers and other large cats have been shown to be susceptible to COVID-19. Help us protect the Malayan tiger cubs by masking up when near their habitat.
  • Topics Cafe indoor dining room when not seated at your table
  • Exit giftshop
  • Carousel and Train riders (everyone over the age of 2)
  • Restrooms
  • Zoo administration buildings

Thank you for your cooperation.

Welcome to Palm Beach Zoo! While you are creating priceless memories and spending time with your family in nature, here are some safety FAQs to keep in mind:

  • Our capacity remains limited and will be carefully monitored with heatmaps to ensure physical distancing.
  • Some high-occupancy days, and events may have limited capacity, with timed ticketing, like Zoo Lights.
  • Hand-sanitizer stations are available throughout the Zoo.
  • Guests of the Zoo are asked to refrain from visiting if they are in a high-risk or vulnerable category for COVID-19, are not feeling well or have a fever.
  • Guests are encouraged to wear facial coverings, utilize hand-sanitizing stations, and maintain a six-foot distance from other groups. In accordance with Palm Beach County orders: Facial coverings are required in indoor spaces and where social distancing is not possible. Facial coverings are required in Fountain Plaza while sitting on benches, supervising water play and in concession lines where social distancing is not possible. Masks are required for all ages of visitors when visiting the Tiger River habitat, due to the fact that large cats have been shown to contract COVID-19. Please help us keep our tiger cubs safe! All guests, including those who have receive the COVID-19 vaccine must wear masks.
  • Additional sanitation of high-touch surfaces and restrooms will be performed throughout the day.
  • Nature Play is constructed of natural wood which does not allow for cleaning. Man made materials will be cleaned prior to opening each day.
  • The Carousel and Train will be sanitized prior to opening each day, and as needed.
  • Touchless payment and online ticket purchase options are available.
  • Zoo staff must wear face coverings and answer a health survey each day prior to reporting to work.

  • The best way to reduce the spread of COVID-19 is to eliminate non-essential interaction with the public. Visiting any attraction with the general public carries an inherent risk. Guests voluntarily assume all risks associated with a visit. Safety is our top priority, and the Zoo put in place precautionary measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19, as listed above.

We thank you for your cooperation and support of Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society.
