Palm Beach Zoo: January 2017 Special Events

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Palm Beach Zoo is announcing the following special events and promotions for January 2017: 

Fourth Annual Noon Year’s Eve Celebration: Saturday, December 31, 11:00a-1:00p – TURN UP at Palm Beach Zoo’s fourth annual NOON YEAR'S EVE PARTY! Highlights include a children's dance party in the Fountain Plaza featuring face painters... crafts... an apple juice toast... and an "alligator ball" drop fit for children of all ages! This event is included with regular zoo admission.

Save the Panther 5K: January 7, 7:30a - Jumpstart your New Year’s Resolutions by registering to RUN or WALK in our Save the Panther 5K on January 7th and 2017 Big Cat Race Series! Net proceeds from this race help fund our partnership with the Florida Wildlife Corridor, an organization working to protect Florida panthers and their dwindling habitat. Every runner gets a tech-style, short-sleeve, polyester, running shirt available in men’s and women's sizes. Your registration also includes admission to the zoo for the day and 3 half-price discount coupons for friends and family!

“How Conservation Science Saves Species” by Dr. Stuart Pimm: Thursday, January 12, 6:00p-8:00p – Known as a leader on present day extinctions, join us for the 2017 Conservation Leadership Lecture Series, generously supported by presenting sponsor Bank of America and learn how conservation societies and communities are working to stabilize declining populations. All lectures and discussions will occur from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Zoo’s Tropics Café. Guests are invited to enjoy cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and zoo animal encounters from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. before lecture presentations.

DragonFest: Celebrate the Chinese New Year: Saturday, January 28:

Education Events, 11:00a – 2:15p - DragonFest is Palm Beach Zoo's annual celebration of the Chinese New Year!  This year is the year of the Red Chicken.  Join us for great fun and great wishes for the new year! We'll have a DJ, crafts, face painting, and the always amazing Dragon and Lion Dances by John Wai Kung Fu Academy along with a martial arts demonstration! Be sure to visit our resident modern day dragon...the Komodo dragon.

Toddler Workshops Are Kid-Tested and Parent Approved: REGISTER NOW!

The Palm Beach Zoo Education Department offers exciting workshops designed for children ages 2 to 4 years! Age-specific crafts and activities are designed to excite and intrigue your child. Workshops include up-close animal encounters, stories, song or game, crafts, and admission to the Zoo! Workshops for 3-4 year olds also include a snack. One adult is required to attend the program with children. Register now for the popular Whoo Whoo at the Zoo program:

  • 3 & 4 year olds: 10:00a - 11:30am Saturday, January 14

Girl Scout Badge Programs are Back!

Is your Girl Scout looking to fulfill badge requirements? Then come have a wild time at the zoo, and earn a badge too! In partnership with the Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida programs are available for Daisies, Brownies, Juniors & Cadettes. Badge Workshops & Journeys may include animal encounters, behind the scenes tours, guided ground tours, crafts, themed activities, and admission to the zoo. Overnight programs include up-close animal encounters, a nocturnal tour, crafts, themed activities, pizza, and a continental breakfast. Story Time at the Zoo: A Real Page Turner: Saturday’s at 10:30a

This popular event will take place at on Saturday’s at 10:30 a.m. at the Zoo’s Conservation Station by the Safari Train and the Wildlife Carousel. Story Time at the Zoo is geared towards encouraging children to connect with wildlife through reading, and it is included in the cost of Zoo admission. For more information visit:
