Wild Winter Getaway at Palm Beach Zoo

December 24, 2012

You’re invited to the Palm Beach Zoo to experience our new holiday-themed wildlife shows and celebrate the birthdays of our black bears and panthers.

“Wild Winter Wonders” will focus on cold-adapted animals, those who hibernate and migrate including a hedgehog, duck, Burmese tortoise, great horned owl, and black and white tegu. Zoo keepers will talk about how they prepare for their “holiday season.”

The show runs through January 1. Times are Monday through Friday at 1 p.m. and Saturday & Sunday at 12 p.m. at the Wildlife Theatre.

On New Year’s Day, we will be celebrating the birthdays of our black bears and panthers.

Black bear brothers, Lewis and Clark, will be turning 12 years old. Panthers, Washington and Idaho, will turn one year old.

We are planning to surprise the birthday boys with treats as their presents. The panthers will enjoy their gifts at 11 a.m. and the bears at 12:30 p.m. on New Year’s Day. Children can also take part in the festivities by making a panther mask and bear puppet to take home.
