Please park in Dreher Park South parking lots, the Zoo main parking lot, or along Dreher Trail North (north of the South Florida Science Museum, please do not park in the science museum lots).

Fewer than 500 Malayan Tigers are estimated to be left in the world. Four of these magnificent creatures live at the Palm Beach Zoo; mom Berapi and her three offspring Jaya, Bunga, and Penari. The cubs are the result of the Palm Beach Zoo's participation in the Malayan Tiger Species Survival Plan, working with other accredited zoos to manage the population, protect habitat and stop poaching activities.

To celebrate this success story and the cubs' second birthday, we are presenting the first-ever Palm Beach Zoo "Save the Tiger 5k" on May 11, 2013. This unique run winds through Dreher Park and finishes in the spectacular fountain plaza inside the Zoo! Help us save this beautiful, endangered species by Registering Here. Your donation, in addition to registration, contributes to tiger conservation including a planned expansion of our breeding center and exhibit area. The first 500 runners registered will get this cool, exclusive tiger t-shirt. There are still some tiger-striped t-shirts available.  Register soon to be sure you get yours!

Check-In and Race Day Registration ($40 Adult, $25 Student) begins at 6am in the Zoo parking lot.  Race starts at 7:30am.  Race registration includes all day Zoo admission on race day and a coupon for up to three ½ price admissions for friends and family.  We’ll have some cool up-close animal encounters throughout the morning, as well.

The run starts in the Zoo parking lot, crosses Summit going south around Dreher Park South, then crosses back over Summit into Dreher Park North, looping around the roundabouts at the North end, then progressing South on the Dreher Trail, passing west of the SF Science Museum into the Zoo’s West parking lot, entering the Zoo at gate E, and finishing along the West path turning left at the Gift Shop into the Fountain Plaza.

Spectators will be admitted into the Fountain Plaza at no charge after the last runner leaves the start (approx. 7:40am) and will be required to exit the Zoo by 8:45am.  Or spectators may purchase a full day admission (afore mentioned discount coupon accepted) and stay in the Zoo after the race ends.  We anticipate the awards ceremony to occur at about 8:30am.  Top 3 Male & Female Overall, Top 3 Male & Female Masters, 1st Place Male & Female Juniors will win awards.  Plus, Top 3 finishers Male & Female in 10 year age brackets will also win awards.

Just a reminder…no strollers, bicycles, skateboards, roller skates, etc. will be permitted.
