The Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society is debuting a new event geared towards encouraging children to connect with wildlife through reading, and introducing a summertime discount on admission with a Palm Beach County Library System card. “Story Time at the Zoo” will be held every Saturday in August 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Zoo’s Conservation Station. The event will be included in Zoo admission, and will include a guided tour to an animal habitat featured in the story, as well as a craft activity that can be taken home. The first three books for Story Time at the Zoo will be the following: “The Great Kapok Tree,” by Lynne Cherry, “Oopsie Otter” by Suzanne Tate and “Edward the Emu” by Sheena Knowles. All books are thoughtfully chosen with the intent of communicating the Zoo’s mission of inspiring people to act on behalf of wildlife, whether that be through a message of conservation or by connecting children to animals that are Zoo residents.
