The featured book during Story Time at the Zoo at 10:30 a.m. on October 18, 2014, as part of the Zoo’s Boo at the Zoo event will be “Cilfford’s Halloween” by Norman Bidwell. The event will take place at the Zoo’s Conservation Station by the Safari Train and the Wildlife Carousel.
Story Time at the Zoo is an event geared towards encouraging children to connect with wildlife through reading. Story Time will be included in the cost of Zoo admission. Books are thoughtfully chosen with an emphasis on animals, as part of the Zoo’s mission of inspiring people to act on behalf of wildlife.
A.J. Dasher, visitor services supervisor for the Zoo, will read to children during Story Time at the Zoo. As a former English teacher with more than twenty years of experience, Dasher hopes this initiative will encourage reading. “We want to encourage reading on all levels, but we especially hope children will choose books about animals, zoos, conservation, nature and the environment,” Dasher said.
