WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — We are pleased to announce that Palm Beach Zoo has received a $10,000 grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation through the Workforce Development and Education RFP to support the Palm Beach Zoo Career Readiness Academy.
This initiative is closely aligned with our mission to inspire people to act on behalf of wildlife and the natural world. This grant will be used in conjunction with Forest Hill High School, our Career Readiness Academy school partner.
The program begins by bringing participants to tour the Zoo and attend Zoo Keeper Talks. They then select the Zoo animals and conservation topics they wish to address in their team presentation. Working in teams of two or three, they are mentored by Zoo professionals throughout the five-month program to develop a presentation in which they explain their chosen animal’s biology, behavior, natural habitats and the conservation challenges in the wild that are threatening their survival.
