- This large freshwater turtle has an average adult size between 14 - 20 inches with females usually slightly larger than males.
- They feed mainly on vegetation but they will also consume some animal matter.
- Yellow-spotted Amazon River turtles inhabit slow moving waters such as ponds or lakes found in the tropical regions of South America.
- Females usually lay between 15-20 eggs several times a year.
- They are listed by the IUCN as vulnerable.
