Yellow-faced Amazon

Amazona Xanthops
As with other amazons, this species is an elegant shade of green with a yellow patchy face particularly around the eyes.
They are native to Central America through South America.
This arboreal species has zygodactyl feet, which means two toes face forward and two toes face backward which help it climb.
They have been listed by the IUCN as vulnerable since 1994 due to exploitation for the pet trade and deforestation.
