White-throated capuchin
- Cebus capucinus
- The white-throated capuchin is native to Central America where they inhabit the canopy of various dry and wet forest types.
- Fruits make up more than 75 % of their diet with the remaining portion of the diet including lizards, bird eggs, small parrots, and insects.
- A strong prehensile tail equipped with a hairless underside allows this species the sensitivity and dexterity of a fifth limb.
- These polygamous breeders live in large groups of mixed males and females and have a matrilineal hierarchy with females remaining with the group and males moving on to join other groups or form bachelor groups.
