White-tailed Deer

White-tailedDeer
Odocoileus Virginianus Virginianus
White-tailed deer can be found across the contiguous states, southern Canada, and even into Central America.
As opportunists, they feed on a diverse diet of buds and twigs of maple, poplar, aspen, birch, and many shrubs.
Males have large antlers that are shed every year between January and March and grow back in April or May.
Mating occurs in the late fall and gestation lasts 6 ½ months when 1-3 precocial white-spotted fawns are born.
They are incredibly agile, bounding at speeds up to 30 miles per hour and jumping fences as high as 8 feet.
