Sulphur-crested Cockatoo*

Cacatua Galerita
This bird lives in large numbers in northern and eastern Australia where it inhabits tropical and subtropical rainforests.
Preening each other, erecting of the crest, bobbing of the head, and swaying the head side to side are all signs of courtship in this monogamous species.
Lifespan in the wild averages 40 years, but in captivity they have been known to live as much as 120 years.
They feed on seeds, nuts, fruits, flowers, and insects which they collect in the tree canopies and disperse in excrement.
When feeding in large groups, "sentinel" birds remain on the outskirts of the group to watch for predators such as owls and monitors.
