Southern Tamandua
- Tamandua Tetradactyla
- The body of this smaller relative of the giant anteater is golden to tan with a black vest pattern that wraps around the body.
- Tamanduas live in wet and dry forest as well as open savannahs near water in central South America.
- A tamandua's tongue can extend out more than 1 foot, and is covered with sticky saliva and rear-pointing spines to help remove ants and termites from their nests.
- They have four clawed digits on the front limbs and five clawed digits on the back limbs as well as a prehensile tail all of which make them quite agile climbers.
