Serval

Serval
Leptailurus serval
African servals live in tall grass in the African savannahs and woodlands usually near water. The spotted coat breaks up their body outline in the grass.
Large ears aide in hearing prey and opposable wrists help in capturing burrowing animals.
They eat a wide variety of food including birds, mammals and reptiles.
Built for agility, they have been known to jump about 10-12 feet straight up in the air from a standstill to grab birds flying overhead.
Hunted for its attractive coat, the serval is listed as threatened. The serval is also used as a source of meat in some areas of Africa.
