Red-billed Toucan*

Ramphastos Tucanus
Toucans are found throughout northeastern South America inhabiting dense forest canopy where they can move and navigate with short jumps and flights as opposed to distance flights.
The bill of the toucan is hollow inside making it light weight but giving it very little crushing power, hence it has serrated edges to tear through fleshy fruit and seeds to get to the pulpy inside.
They are cavity nesters usually squeezing into holes just wide enough for themselves, tucking their bill over their backs.
The biggest threat to toucans is human encroachment on the delicate rainforests and their capture for the pet trade.
