Prehensile-tailed Skink*

Corucia Zebrata
This is the largest of the skink family with a body length of as much as 12 inches and a total length on nearly 3 feet.
The prehensile-tailed skink is native only to the Solomon Islands in the south Pacific, hailing their other common name, Solomon Islands tree skink.
This nocturnal herbivore feeds mainly on leafy vegetation and flowers of the tree canopy where it resides.
Females give live birth to a single offspring every 2-3 years and they exhibit some parental care which is almost unheard of in lizards.
It is currently not listed as threatened, but it is protected under CITES II to limit international trade of this species for the growing pet trade.
