- Pavo Cristatus
- The peacock is the national bird of India where it is a resident of semi-desert grasslands and deciduous forests.
- Being a typical sexually dimorphic species, the females are dull grey-green with slight iridescent blue, while males are extravagantly dressed with long green and blue "eyed" iridescent tail feathers that they use to display to females and other males.
- They are a terrestrial species but they do roost in trees.
