Northern Great Horned Owl

Bubo Virginianus Virginianus
The great horned owl is found through out most dense woodlands and forests in North, Central, and South America
Easily identifiable by its ear tufts that look like horns, the great horned owl is a large bird with a wingspan of almost 5 feet.
Owls are expert nocturnal hunters because they have excellent low-light vision and asymmetrical ears that help them localize sounds made by prey.
Heavy consumers of pest rodents, owls are encouraged by farmers to hunt for rats, rabbits, and other small mammals.
They are protected under the Migratory Bird Act.
