Florida Sandhill Crane
- Grus canadensis pratensis
- The Florida sandhill crane is a year-round resident where as the greater sandhill crane only winters in Florida.
- Florida's sandhill cranes are found in inland shallow freshwater marshes, prairies, pastures and farmlands.
- Cranes will mate for life (monogamous) and will lay one or two eggs on their nest, which is often on the waters edge for protection from predators.
- Sandhill cranes are omnivorous and will eat seeds, worms, insects, lizards, crayfish and mice.
