Florida Panther
- Felis concolor coryi
- Florida Panthers are tawny brown and pale gray. Kittens have dark spots for camouflage. An adult can weigh from 70 to 130 lbs.
- They are usually found in pinelands and mixed swamp forests, They are currently only born in South Florida.
- Panthers primarily eat white-tailed deer, wild pigs, small alligators, raccoons, rodents, and even birds.
- To find a meal, a panther may travel 15 to 20 miles a day. Panthers typically walk more at night when it is cooler and rest during the daylight hours.
- The Florida Wildlife Conservation Commission has reported that since 1972, 88 panthers have been killed by collisions with vehicles.
- There are approximately 80 panthers in existence, including around 20 breeding females.
