Florida black bear

Ursus americanus floridanus
Florida black bears are drastically declining and are listed as threatened by the State of Florida.
The average weight of a Florida black bear is 350 pounds for males and 150 pounds for females. They are 4.5 to 6.5 feet in length.
Male Florida black bears live 15-25 years, while females can live up to 30 years.
They do not hibernate; due to the lack of cold weather in the southern states. Instead they have a period called "wintering" from late December to March. During this time, food intake is decreased similar to a true hibernation and pregnant females give birth in the den.
The Florida black bear is an omnivore and enjoys a wide variety of foods, including berries, acorns and fruits.
