Eclectus Parrot
- Eclectus Roratus
- Believed to be two separate species up until the 20th century, the sexes of this dimorphic species are easy to tell apart with males being vibrant green with red under the wings and sides of the body and females are mainly red with blue vents.
- They are native to northern Australia, New Guinea, the Solomon Islands and Indonesia where they inhabit various fruit bearing trees of the tropical forests.
- Social groups of birds consist of a dominant pair with young-rearing helpers that are either offspring from previous years or unpaired adult birds.
