Domestic rabbit
- Oryctolagus cuniculus
- Domestic rabbits are found on every continent except Asia and Antarctica.
- They weigh 3 to 5 pounds and are generally 15 to 20 inches in length.
- They can live up to nine years. However, mortality during the first year of life is generally around 90%.
- Domestic rabbits generally live in large complex burrows with 6 to 10 adults.
- A mother rabbit can have a litter of up to 6-10 babies and can be very protective of her babies.
