Demoiselle Crane

Anthropoides Virgo
At just three feet tall, the Demoiselle crane is the smallest species of crane
This bird is silvery gray with a long white neck stripe and black on the fore neck that extends down over the chest.
Summer breeding grounds are found in central Asia while they migrate to Africa and southern Asia during the winter months.
They arrive at the breeding grounds in late April at which point a nest is formed on the ground encircled by parts of plants, stones, dirt clumps, and dry cattle droppings.
Both parents share all duties equally caring for egg clutches that usually consist of 1-2 eggs, and rarely 3 eggs.
