Chinese Muntjac

Muntiacus Reevesi
Chinese muntjacs are native to the subtropical forests of southeastern China and Taiwan.
Unlike other antlered deer, they use their tusk-like canines to defend territory and gain access to females.
They have a chestnut-colored coat with a 4-inch black and white tail. Females tend to be slightly lighter in color than males.
Muntjac are often called barking deer. They bark when predators are in their territory and with each other when subordinate and dominant animals come into contact.
Chinese muntjacs weigh 20 to 60 pounds and stand 25 to 45 inches in height.
