Central American Banded Gecko*
- Coleonyx Mitratus
- These small geckos range in size from 4-6 inches.
- Being a terrestrial species, they inhabit dry rocky areas where they live beneath flat rocks and in crevices.
- They feed on small insects such as termites, crickets, and spiders during the early hours of the night.
- When attacked by predators, they can detach their tail to distract the predator allowing them time to escape; a new tail grows back after 4-5 weeks.
