Burmese Rock Python
- Python molurus bivittatus
- An adult Burmese python may weigh 200 pounds and can reach 15 to 20 feet in length.
- The brown and beige blotchy pattern, as well as the two distinct lines that run horizontally on the head, across each eye help to camouflage this very large, heavy-bodied snake.
- They are found in rainforest environments with thick vegetation near river banks throughout southeast Asia, southern China and Indonesia.
- Their diet consists of a variety of birds and mammals. A large python is capable of eating pigs and deer.
- Female pythons incubate 12 to 36 eggs at a time and remain with them until they hatch. By twitching her muscles, she is able to raise the temperature several degrees.
