Blue-and-yellow Macaw

- Easily distinguished from the other macaw species at the zoo, this bird is blue with a yellow chest.
- They are relatively large birds with body lengths of 36 inches and wingspan of almost four feet.
- They are native to the tropical forests of Central and South America where they forage for nuts and berries in the forest canopy.
- These birds congregate in flocks of 100 or more individuals while pairs within the group that mate for life tend to fly close together.
