Barn Owl

- With the most widely spread distribution of all owls, the barn owl inhabits low elevation open areas such as grasslands, deserts, and agricultural lands of all continents except Antarctica.
- The white face is oval without ear tufts and the body is covered with light grey to beige feathers, with darker wings and back.
- Barn owls are monogamous forming pairs that mate for life, with females laying 2-14 eggs over the span of 20 days once per year.
- Owls are expert nocturnal hunters because they have excellent low-light vision and asymmetrical ears that help them localize sounds made by prey.
- They are protected under the Migratory Bird Act.
