The Malayan tiger habitat at the Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society is undergoing construction to more than double in size, as the Zoo announces its newest corporate sponsor, Braman Motorcars Palm Beach & Jupiter. Through a multi-year commitment as lead corporate sponsor, Braman Motorcars will support the Zoo’s tiger health and wellness, education and daily operations in the expanded exhibit habitat.

The Zoo’s two Malayan tigers, male Keemasan Mata and female Berapi Api, both reside in the Australia/Asia section of the Zoo, which is where the new habitat will be located. Construction began at the beginning of 2014, and is expected to be completed by the end of the year. Zoo officials are hopeful Mata and Berapi will have tiger cubs, and the two tigers have been paired since February through a breeding recommendation made by the Tiger Species Survival Plan (SSP) of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). Zoo officials said each tiger birth is critical to help preserve the species from extinction, as scientists estimate fewer than 500 Malayan tigers exist in the wild. Every tiger cub born will contribute to the genetic diversity of the Malayan tiger population and species conservation efforts.

In addition to the tiger habitat expansion, the Zoo is announcing its newest corporate sponsor, Braman Motorcars. Their sponsorship will help continue the Zoo’s tradition of providing quality care and a natural habitat for its resident tigers.

"This new partnership makes sense because both organizations are fundamentally about relationships," says Braman Motorcars General Manager Vince Cerone. "For Braman, it's between us and our customers. For the Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society, it's between people and the animals that make the Zoo a magical place. Working together, we have the opportunity to create unique avenues of communication and awareness that will benefit them all. You don't find that kind of win-win situation very often, and we're looking forward to the challenge."

Zoo President & CEO Andrew Aiken said the new sponsorship illustrates the connection between business and conservation. “As a cultural asset here in Palm Beach County, the Zoo looks to celebrate the great work of community businesses that value conservation and wildlife,” Aiken said. “With many hybrid and high mileage cars in the Braman lineup, it’s great to know you don’t have to sacrifice style, luxury, and performance when you want to make a more environmentally-beneficial vehicle choice.  Getting that message out to our 300,000 visitors each year is a good thing for Braman, a good thing for the Zoo, and a great thing for wildlife.”
