A popular event at the Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society returns “with a twist” for 2014. A “Food Truck Safari” will take place on Saturday, January 18, 2014, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and the public is invited to enjoy some of South Florida’s best food trucks, up-close animal encounters, live music and now two beer and wine bars for guests ages 21 and over. This will be the first “Food Truck Safari” under which the Zoo will be offering adult beverages to of-age guests under its own liquor license.

“The community has really responded to the combination of food trucks and wild animals, so we’re about to do our fifth Food Truck Safari,” said Ron Brooks, Events Manager for the Zoo. “The food truck culture continues to grow in Palm Beach County.”

“We think it’s a great way to entice people to the Zoo at a non-traditional hour, and maybe attract some first-time visitors,” he contined. “It’s a fun night out ,and it helps support the Zoo’s mission to inspire people to act on behalf of wildlife.  We’re very excited to have our liquor license, so we can offer beer and wine at two locations during the Food Truck Safari… and guests will not have to wait for their adult beverages!”

Guests can enjoy live music from Bobby G in the Interactive Fountain Plaza and Andre Michaud in the Mayan Plaza. The Zoo has partnered with Food Truck Collective to offer a fresh line-up of gourmet food trucks.

Zoo admission for the Food Truck Safari is $9 adult members, $10 adult non-members, $6 child members, $7 child non-members, under 3 free.  Gate proceeds support regular Zoo operations.

Food and beverage purchases are NOT included in admission.  All food trucks are donating a portion of their proceeds toward Zoo operations.  Trucks accept cash or credit.

The Palm Beach Zoo encourages all food trucks to apply sustainable practices in their daily operations and we’ll once again give a “Sustainability Award” to the truck that excels in the most environmental and conservation sustainability categories in our checklist.  Past winners include The Daily Special, Food Island and Pescados Unidos.
